Pulau Ubin Revisited (2001-2004)
A temporary reprieve for the next 9 years. Beyond that, little is known of the fate of the island of Ubin.
With most residents resettled over to the mainland, many of the kampung homes had been demolished. However, the island is still popular with school groups, nature lovers and fun-seekers that during weekends the island is crowded with visitors looking for the simple pleasures in life. Away from the madness to savour the rustic charm and to the green trails to discover the freedom of the wilderness.
The town centre reminds one of an era reminiscent of the early 60's. Beyond it, the vast greenery instantly becomes apparent. From secondary forests, mangroves, abandoned plantations and grasslands, nature thrives and Nature exists so that Man can live!
