Mawai Eco Camp
Mawai Eco Camp is designed by architect Tay Kheng
Soon and built by aborigines using wood products from the forest and was completed in 1998. As the camp is built over a freshwater swamp, it is surrounded by riverine flora and oozes the rustic ambience, sadly lacking in citified lving. Sleeping quarters are basic and commando style and the whole set up is on a raised platform. The Sedili River is the camp's life-line; bird watching is a rewarding experience and fireflies can be spotted regularly at night. Stargazing undisturbed in the wee hours of the morning is a must for insomniacs. Campcraft is taught to participants and jungle survival skills training is a bonus.
