The launch of "Chek Jawa - Discovering Singapore's Biodiversity" & "Commissioning of Nature Ambassadors @ Southeast CDC" was held at the Ubin Lagoon Resort on 21 Nov 2002.

The Guest of Honour was Mr Abdullah Tarmugi, Speaker of Parliament & MP for East Coast GRC

The book on CJ was conceived by the author, Dr Chua Ee Kiam on his first trip to the intertidal flats in May 2000. It opened a new vista to those who do not scuba dive. The dazzling display of Neptune's treasures in this unique location was enough to entice the author to return again and again to document the intertidal flats at low tide. The participation of student volunter guides is an important milestone in the education of the public on the biodiversity, beauty and the importance of our limited natural heritage.

Chek Jawa will be more than just an outdoor classroom; it is about the miracle of life and the love of nature..
